Eberhard Baunach (Köln), Oliver Louisoder (Trier), Heiko Ostmann (Schweiz) und Chris Bauer (Großbritannien) pilotierten den Aston Martin Vantage V8, der auf Rang fünf der Klasse SP10 über den Zielstrich fuhr. Mit etwas Glück wäre es sogar weiter nach vorne gegangen. Wie man sich regelrecht durch ein Startfeld pflügt, zeigte Jörg Bratke beim Rahmenrennen der 24h-Classic in einem Porsche 928 S. Dass der Teamchef beim Hauptrennen nicht selbst ins Lenkrad griff, hatte organisatorische Gründe. „So konnte ich viel besser das Drumherum organisieren. Auch wenn wir mit Mathol Racing einen optimalen Partner gefunden haben, der sich um die Betreuung des Rennautos gekümmert hat, so bleibt bei solch einer Großveranstaltung noch viel zu tun.“ Die Technik hatte die Mathol-Mannschaft voll im Griff. So konnten sich die vier Bratke-Piloten voll auf ihre Stints konzentrieren. Bei 198 gestarteten Fahrzeugen keine leichte Aufgabe, da zwischen den unterschiedlichen Klassen teilweise große Leistungsunterschiede herrschten und so Überholmanöver auf der Nordschleife zur Tagesordnung gehörten. Jörg Bratke hatte den vier Fahrern mit auf den Weg gegeben, es ruhig angehen zu lassen. Mit kontinuierlich schnellen Runden unterhalb des maximalen Grenzbereichs sollte es Stück für Stück nach vorne gehen. So sollten Material und Fahrer geschont werden, schließlich ist so ein Langstreckenrennen eine enorme Belastung für alle Beteiligten – egal ob Mensch oder Maschine. Bis in die Morgenstunden sollte sich Taktik auch auszahlen. Im Gesamtklassement rangierte der Bratke-Aston bereits um Platz 40 und in der Klasse zeitweise auf Platz zwei, als einer der vier Fahrer in einen Unfall verwickelt wurde und das Auto kurzerhand von der Piste abbog. Dabei wurde glücklicherweise nur eine Spurstange beschädigt. In der Box musste das Team trotzdem den Schaden richten, bevor es zur Aufholjagd gehen konnte. Am Ende wurde es Rang 78 im Gesamtklassement und eben Platz fünf in der Klasse. „Der Unfall hat uns zwar zurückgeworfen, aber ich bin mit dem Ergebnis trotzdem sehr zufrieden“, kommentierte Jörg Bratke. Er selbst hatte im Classic-Rennen gezeigt, dass eine Aufholjagd durchaus von Erfolg gekrönt werden kann. Im Porsche 928 S ging er gemeinsam mit Oliver Louisoder in das gut dreistündige Rennen, bei dem nur Youngtimer startberichtigt waren. Während andere Teams mit ordentlichen Feuereffekten auf sich aufmerksam machten, ließ es das Bratke-Duo auf der Strecke so richtig fliegen. Denn das Team war zu Beginn im hinteren Feld zu finden. Doch Bratke und Louisoder nutzten die Position nur als Anlauf. Denn innerhalb der 18 Runden ließen sie einen Gegner nach dem anderen hinter sich. Der Porsche 928 S lief problemlos und erlaubte seinen Piloten richtig schnelle Rundenzeiten. Am Ende landete Bratke Motorsport auf Gesamtrang sieben. Ein Ergebnis, dass Jörg Bratke vorher nicht erwartet hatte: „Es lief alles optimal. Ich hatte zwar gehofft in die Top 10 zu kommen aber dran geglaubt haben wir erst, als es wirklich so weit war.“ Zudem war der 928 S von Bratke Motorsport der schnellste Bolide seiner Altersklasse. Alle vor ihm platzierten Renner waren deutlich jünger und auch noch stärker motorisiert. Der nächste Einsatz von Bratke Motorsport steht übrigens schon in der nächsten Woche an. Für das 24h-Rennen-Auto ist nämlich nur eine kurze Pause geplant. Bereits am kommenden Mittwoch (26. Mai) wird der Aston Martin Vantage V8 in Spa eingesetzt. Die Fans von Bratke Motorsport dürfen sich schon mal auf ein neues Design des britischen Sportlers freuen, denn bis dahin wird die Optik des Autos komplett neu gestaltet. With a little bit more luck it would even have been possible to reach a better position. How to plaugh regularly through a start-field showed Jörg Bratke at the ordinary race of the 24-hours -classic in a Porsche 928 S. There were reasons of organisation, why the the team boss did not grip the steering- wheel at the main-race. „So I could much better organise  all the things aroud the race.  Even if we have found an ideal partner with Mathol Racing, which has taken care of the the racing-cars, there is much to be done at such a big event“. The Mathol team managed the technical things perfectly. As a consequense the four Bratke pilots could fully concentrate on their stints. With 198 cars in the race, not an easy task, especially  not because there were partly big performance differences between the different classes and so manoeuvers of overtaking on the northern loop were part of normal business. Jörg Bratke had advised his four drivers, to drive softly and not hectically on their way. With continous fast rounds below the maximum speed-limit it should go forward bit by bit. Like this material and drivers should be treated with care, because a long-distance race is an enormous stress for all those included - no matter wether human beings or machines. This tactics should pay off until the morning hours. In the total classification the Bratke-Aston had already moved around position 40 of the total classification and in the  class it was partly on position two, when one of the four drivers was involved in an accident and the car suddenly left the racing course. But fortunately only one tie rod was damaged by the accident. But  nevertheless the team had to correct the damage in the box, before the hunt of catching up could start. In the end they reached rank 78 in the total classification, and finally position five in their class. “Even so the accident threw us back, I am very satisfied with the result“, commented Jörg Bratke.  He himself had shown in the classic-car race that a hunt of catching up can be crowned with success. In a Porsche 928 S he started together with Oliver Louisoder  the three-hours-race, where only “young-cars“ were allowed to start. While other teams took the attraction by real fire effects, the Bratke-duo gave a real lauch on the track. For at the beginning, the team was at the backpart of the field. But Bratke and Louisoder used the position only as a warm-up. But within the 18  rounds they broke away from the rest of the field. The Porsche 928 S ran without  problems and allowed his pilots real fast times of the rounds. In the end, Bratke Motorsport landed on position seven of the total classification. A result which Jörg Bratke had not expected before: “Everything went perfectly. I even had hoped to come among the top ten, but I only could believe it when it really was like this.“  In addtion to this, the 928 S by Bratke Motorsport was the fastest car of its age-class. All other racers which were placed in front of it, were much younger and had stronger engines.  By the way, the next action of Bratke Motorsport is on the plan for next week. For the  24-hours-racing-car, only a short break is planned. Already on next Wednesday, the 26th of May,  the Aston Martin Vantage V8 will be in action in Spa. The Fans  of  Bratke Motorsport may look forward to a new design of the British sportsman, for until then the car will have a completly new outlook.
